Companies Are Looking For You

Do you know that thousands of companies are looking for YOU? Well, they are. Companies that are seeking government (local, state and federal) contracts are required to employ minority-owned businesses to fulfill their obligation or they could lose their government contract.

A Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) is defined as a business which is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled on a daily basis by one or more of the following ethnic minority classifications:

  • African American
  • Asian American
  • Hispanic American
  • Native American

MBE’s can be self identified, but are typically certified by a city, state or federal agency.

Minority Business Benefits

A number of Minority Business Enterprise’s (MBE) believe that the benefit of being an MBE is the acquisition of contracts via government mandated MBE requirements, but that would be a shallow view of the MBE status.

The purpose of the MBE designation is to partner with larger firms to gain access to the resources that most MBE’s do not have access to.

Benefits to MBE’s

  • Financial Assistance and Support
  • Access to Educational Programs
  • National/International Market Access
  • Opportunities to Sales and Marketing
  • Access to Mentor-Protege Program
  • Technical Assistance
  • Validation of MBE Status
